I am not a techie and know little about the inner workings of computer stuff.I just wanted something I could tote all my digital stuff around on so I did my research and read other reviews by people who were techie smart and decided on this netbook, as having the fastest new atom processor, the webcam and mic I wanted, and the right hard drive size as well as a matte screen. I am very very happy with this product. I have downloaded kindle for pc onto it, so I can carry my ebooks with me…what a great idea Amazon…thanks. I have networked several movies onto it as well as my music, so now I have a dozen movies which play fine with good color and no hesitations, half a dozen books, and loads of songs where ever I want to take them, plus I can surf the web and type a letter, even work on my photoshop when I want. and it’s all in a tiny space. it sure seems sturdy enough, well made,not cheap feeling, the keyboard is easy to use and almost regular size, the keys aren’t too small or mushy feeling… I LOVE the matte finish on the outside and the matte screen is perfect. I get at least 9 hours of battery life, and that is reading while having a movie playing at the same time (split screen)you can have kindle open on one side and real player going on the other. Plus it recharges really quickly with the little cord that comes with it. Maybe 2 hours at most and it’s ready to go again. It is really intuitive and found my home network immediately with no headaches and finds the wifi in places that have it with the click of a button. Although the owners manual is seriously lame, you basically just insert the battery, charge it and go. Even I could figure it out and that is saying something about just how easy it is. what I would change…how it opens, it has just a tiny tiny spot to lift with, and you basically have to use 2 hands and pull from the sides like a clam. and it’s heavy in the back. not a deal breaker, but if you are holding it while reading (like in bed or in the car) it can be a bit awkward. the sound…it comes from the very front somehow and is low and kind of tinny. But, sounds just fine with earphones, which I use most of the time anyway. I would recommend this to any body looking for a portable multi-media toy.

It was perfect for that. Also handy for the long flight-my wife plays scrabble and we downloaded the game and this kept her busy for a while. The matte screen is fantastic, it is bright and glare free. Windows 7 starter loads quickly and has just about all the features you need. It also has a faster loading operating system (FastBoot) if you want to use it for just browsing the internet. It has bluetooth and I got a great little Microsoft Bluetooth mouse to use with it. Also battery life is more than adequate but not sure if it goes up to 11 hours. A lot of thought went into designing this netbook and I think overall it’s perfect, especially for the price.

The battery life is outstanding on this 2.8lb netbook, I usually get 8 hours or so w/normal use (wifi on, brightness all the way up, etc). Win 7 starter isn’t bad either and I like the Asus has customized it to allow for the user to have some features not built in (changing desktop background). I was also surprised it handled Hulu and Netflix streaming w/ very minimal frame dropping/was very smooth. W/ the stock 1 gig of ram, this thing flies surfing the web (w/ google chrome), has a simple/functioning webcam, and a quick startup/shutdown time, once you’ve gone through initial install/updates. Amazing battery, light-weight, fast enough w/ 1gig of stock ram makes this a great little machine to surf web, watch streaming content (non-hd), and web broadcast on ustream.

We are casual users, mostly for office, photo, and some video. I’ve not installed any heavy software yet. I’m not a gamer. We followed the instructions and had no problem getting it charged and up and running. I’ve only had to remove a little bloatware and found most of the features I need. So far, it looks like we made a good choice. 1. Like other reviewers, we think the keyboard is fine. And I have larger hands. 2. The web cam works and the quality is not fabulous, but satisfactory. 3. The splash top feature to circumvent the windows OS set up easily, though it didn’t seem much of an advantage except signing on easily to the internet. I’ll have to experiment more to see if it’s faster or not. 4. The SD slot is a great feature, and I was able to play my mp4 videos with no change of settings. This is also in part due to having windows 7. I’ve had problems with video in Vista. 5. The fit and finish is great. I like the textured lid, subtle and hip. The keys, hinges, buttons, etc. are good. 6. The computer fit easily in the smaller of the 10.2 netbook cases we tried. We went with a simple Targus neoprene cover. 7. The mouse pad works nicely, smoothly. 8. I understand what people are saying about it feeling top heavy, like it wants to tilt back, but it is no issue on a flat surface. 9. We’re very glad we got the new processor and larger harddrive. Overall, it looks like a good purchase for us. The size, shape, weight, and features meet our needs.
